This is good news to all Filipinos who travelers abroad. Effective on 1st January 2018, Philippine passports will have 10-year validity with no price increase in the meantime; this was according to Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on October 25 signed the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10928 which extends passport validity to 10 years as approved by President Rodrigo Duterte last August 2, 2017.
Although the DFA cleared that Filipinos below 18 years old, however, “will still be issued 5-year valid passports” rationalizing by saying that these kids will still undergo changes as they grow old so they believe it would be better to renew the passport when they turn 18.
